Welcome to metaMODELS.org!

metaMODELS.org is a platform for collaborative metamodel engineering - launched by OOMEGA in cooperation with Technical University of Munich.

Metamodelling is the central activity within model-driven engineering; therefore it is crucial that different stakeholders can collaboratively develop and agree on shared metamodels. In order to be able to agree on metamodels on a very detailed level, the metamodelling language M2L is used. M2L is a very powerful and high expressive metamodelling language which is based on a scientific foundation: the Edge Algebra. Anyhow, the close relationship to UML class diagrams makes it easy to understand the basic concepts of M2L very quickly. While OOMEGA is providing an implementation of the basic technology, i.e. an integrated framework for model-driven engineering, metaMODELS.org offers a central place in the web where metamodels can be created and shared with the modelling community.

The engagement of the Technical University Munich and its industry partners will lead to industry-relevant metamodels right from the beginning. The chair of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Manfred Broy at Technical University Munich is doing fundamental research in the area of model-driven engineering and is involved in several projects in cooperation with the industry. The main interest of Manfred Broy and his team is to collaboratively develop and share a common Architecture Framework as well as domain-specific Architecture Frameworks. The former is dealing with modelling software architectures in general; the latter are targeted at the needs of specific industries e.g. the automotive or avionic industry.

Anyway, metaMODELS.org is there for everybody - so you are invited to join the community and to create and share metamodels on a great collaborative modelling platform.
